Do you know the origin of a sterling silver piece with an owl hallmark?
The sterling is the base on an antique art glass vase - possibly Loezt but it's not marked. The base simply has the word "sterling" and the owl (with wings outstretched) imprinted on it. It was a wedding present to my grandparents in the early 1900's.
If American, it could possibly be one of the Towle Silversmiths hallmarks, picture at the first link. If not try the second link for a more general encyclopedia of hallmarks.
